My Place, My People

My Place, My People, is a scriptwriting competition for the writers who live, work or play in Yarra Valley. It is about celebrating the community, exploring and discussing its issues.

The competition will include two categories: comedy, drama. The overall winner will receive a monetary reward, a public reading of their script, workshops and ultimately the possibility of a staged production with Exit Theatre.

A panel of writers, journalists and theatre professionals will judge the scripts. They will be looking for interesting stories, strong character development and a distinctive style.

The scripts should be no longer than ninety minutes and include a maximum of 5 characters.

Exit theatre Inc. believes that Yarra Valley is a home for many artists, writers and performers and the aim of this competition is to bring creative members of the community together, highlight some of these artistic skills and work toward a community based stage production. Exit Theatre believes that cooperation between different arts groups can build a strong foundation for cultural development in the region.
